AR Ads Come to Reels & Facebook Stories

Working with IAB Newfronts, Meta rolled out its AR ads feature to Instagram Reels and Facebook Stories. Using the new short-form video platforms, advertisers could greatly expand their marketing campaigns to Facebook and Instagram’s huge user base – arguably the world’s largest – with amazing results.

Augmented reality and its immersive nature has emerged as a new way for brands to engage people and drive memorable results at lower costs. Now, we’re making it easier for advertisers to reach audiences with AR Ads by launching roll-out globally in three new placements: Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, and Facebook Stories. AR Ads are currently available on Facebook Feed, Instagram Feed, and Instagram Stories.

In a recent AR reels ads test, Sephora created an AR experience that, with a quick press of your thumb, generates an “aura vibe“ to help select the most fitting fragrances. After trying the filter in-camera, consumers can visit Sephora’s best-selling fragrances to make a purchase. Sephora saw incremental reach and engagement, with over half the audience being Gen Z.
